Town of Glastonbury COVID-19 Property Tax Relief Program

On April 21, 2020, the Glastonbury Town Council voted to adopt the Tax Deferment Program for all taxes dues on July 1, 2020.  All landlords must apply for this program to be eligible. This program is authorized by Governor Lamont’s Executive Order 7-S. Real Estate Tax Information

The first installment of taxes for the Town of Glastonbury with the assessment date of October 1, 2019 becomes due July 1, 2020 and becomes delinquent on August 4, 2020 and subject to interest at the rate of 18% annum, 1 1/2% per month or any fraction of a month, from the due date.  A minimum of $2.00 interest will be charged for each delinquent bill and installment.

On April 21, 2020 the Glastonbury Town Council adopted a resolution granting a three-month extension for eligible taxpayers.  For these taxpayers the July 1, 2020 installment becomes delinquent on October 2, 2020  and subject to interest at the rate of 18% annum, 1 1/2% per month or any fraction of a month, from the due date.  A minimum of $2.00 interest will be charged for each delinquent bill and installment.

 No separate mailing will be sent for the second installment.

Real Estate bills cover July 1st through June 30th.

If you received a bill for Real Estate you no longer own, please contact us at (860) 652-7614.  If you received your Real Estate bill and you escrow your taxes, please forward the bill to your lender.

Motor Vehicle and Personal Property (Business) Tax Information

Motor Vehicle (MV) tax is due July 1st and payable by October 1st.  Supplemental Motor Vehicle tax is due January 1st and payable by February  1st.  For further information, click here to visit the Motor Vehicle web page. Delinquent MV taxes must be paid by Money Order, Cashier's Check or Online using a Credit Card if a release is needed to register your vehicle at the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Personal Property (business) taxes are due July 1st and payable by October 1st.  The second installment is due January 1st and payable by February 1st.  All taxes under $100.00 are payable in a single installment and are due July 1st and payable by October 1st.   For further information on Personal Propertyclick here to visit the Business Personal Property web page..  No separate mailing will be sent for the second installment.

Sewer Billing Information

Sewer Use bills are due November 1st and payable by December 1st.  These bills cover the period from July 1st of the previous year through June 30th of the current year.  For additional information on your sewer use billing, please click here to view the Sewer Use Billing Information web page.

General Information on Billing and Payments

Checks which have been returned by the bank are subject to a fifteen ($15.00) processing fee. Taxpayers who have not received a bill should contact the Revenue Collection Office for a duplicate, since failure to receive a bill does not invalidate the tax and respective penalties should the account become delinquent.

Unpaid MV and PP taxes will be considered delinquent as of October 2nd. On that date interest will be charged back to the original due date of July 1st.  Interest is charged at a rate of 1.5% per month in accordance with the provisions of C.G.S. Payment Options

Online: Payments by credit/debit card or electronic check are available on line through Invoice Cloud.  The vendor charges a 2.95% service fee for TAX bills paid by credit/debit cards or a $.95 service charge fee for electronic check payments.  There is a $7.95 minimum service fee per credit/debit card transaction for SEWER bills, not to exceed $400. per transaction, or a $.95 service charge fee for electronic check payment. If interested go to the Online Payment Page

By Mail: On time tax payments may be mailed to Town of Glastonbury, Collector of Revenue, PO Box 376, Glastonbury, CT 06033-0376.

People's Bank Branches: Current on-time tax payments are accepted in July and January at all People's United Bank branches.  Current on-time sewer use payments are accepted in November.  Original bills must accompany paymentAny bill without a "Back Tax" message on it may be paid by cash or check at the bank.  A receipt will be provided and your payment will be posted to your account in the Revenue Collector's Office the next business day.  You do not need to be a People's United Bank customer to use this option.

Drop Boxes: Residents may deposit check payments only (cash not accepted) using one of two drop boxes located at Town Hall.  The stand alone drop box is located on the left-hand side of the Town Hall driveway, past the flagpoles.  The other drop box is built into the exterior wall of Town Hall, to the right of the main entrance.  Payments are collected Monday - Friday for processing.
