Through a new partnership with Quantum Bio Power and All Waste, The Town is now offering a residential food waste collection program. An enclosed container is available at the Transfer Station for residents to discard food waste items such as produce, dairy, meat products, coffee grounds & filters, tea bags, egg shells, bread, and fats. Waste will be treated through a digestion process to naturally decompose the materials. This process produces Methane, which in turn, generates renewable energy. The food waste is ultimately converted to a marketable, organic soil amendment product.
Permits are required to participate in this program. (See Waste Disposal Guidelines for applicable fees). For more information on this program, click here to view the Food Waste Recycling brochure, or contact the Refuse Disposal Division at (860) 652-7772.
