Upcoming Brush Disposal Events - Updated 5/6 for COVID-19

A Free Brush Disposal event will be held at the Bulky Waste Facility ONLY on:

Date: Saturday, May 16, 2020 

Location: Bulky Waste Facility - 1145 Tryon St. (NOT accepted at Transfer Station during COVID19)

Time: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Residents will be able to dispose of brush ONLY without disposal fees at the Bulky Waste Facility, located at 1145 Tryon Street, on Saturday, May 16th from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. No commercial disposal is allowed. Permits or proof of residency required. Other materials which are accepted at this facility (construction and demolition type waste) and compliant with waste disposal guidelines will also be allowed and associated fees charged. Social distancing and face masks are required and will be enforced. Please do not attend if you are ill or if you have been in contact with anyone who is or was recently ill.

Please note: Typically, brush would also be accepted at the Transfer Station however due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Brush Disposal Days will be limited to the Bulky Waste Facility ONLY until further notice.

Future Brush Disposal Days - 2020 

Brush Disposal Days will be held at the Transfer Station and Bulky Waste facilities during regular business hours, 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. as follows:

  • Fall 2020: Saturday, October 10 and Saturday, November 7  - TENTATIVE (pending COVID19 circumstances at that time)

Residents will be able to dispose of brush only without disposal fees. No commercial disposal is allowed. Permits are required and disposal guidelines applicable. Other acceptable materials are allowed and associated fees charged.

Leaf Disposal Special Hours Schedule

The Transfer Station on 2340 New London Turnpike will be open additional hours on Sundays for a 6 week period from October 18 and ending November 22, 2020 to provide a drop off for leaves and grass clippings. 

Operating hours will be 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Permits will be required and all existing rules and guidelines will apply.

Please note, ONLY leaves and grass clippings will be accepted during these modified hours.
