Pistol Permits

Residents can obtain a Pistol Permit Application at the Police Department Records Division office at 2108 Main Street Glastonbury or you can download the form here: Pistol Permit Application.

Completed application forms must be returned in person to the Police Department to be processed.  Applicants paying applicable permit fees in cash must have exact change.  Frequently asked questions concerning pistol permits can be found on the Connecticut Department of Public Safety website at www.ct.gov/dps.

Applicants will be fingerprinted for a criminal history check at the time they submit their application (Mon-Fri, 8am to 3:30 p.m.).  An investigator will then be assigned to conduct a background check and a temporary pistol permit may be issued by the Chief of Police upon successful completion of the background check.

**COVID 19 Precautions:  All persons being fingerprinted are required to submit to a temperature check upon arrival, bring a face covering with them and must keep their face covered for the duration of their appointment.  Applicants who have been ill recently, are currently experiencing a fever of more than 100.4 degrees, or symptoms of cough or difficulty breathing will not be printed.***
