Become a Bike Friendly Facility

Bike Friendly Facility (BFF) Application
This program recognizes local businesses and facilities that provide amenities to bicyclists. Participation is FREE and applicants that meet the minimum qualifications are provided with a custom window cling to display. The benefits to participation include: 

  • Listing of your Business/Facility Online (See Business/Facility Listing Below)
  • Show of Community Support
  • Opportunity to Promote your Business/Facility to Bicyclists

In order to qualify as a Bicycle Friendly Facility, you must be able to provide the following amenities:

  • Bicycle parking that should accommodate a minimum of 4 bicycles and be visible from and close to the entrance it serves - 50’ or less is a good benchmark
  • Allow bicyclists to refill their own water bottle at no charge
  • One of the Following:
    • Use of restroom whether bicyclist is a customer or not
    • No public restroom but can tell a bicyclist of one they can use nearby

Upon approval, you will receive an official letter and window cling. Additionally, your business/facility name, address, and website will be listed below.

Instructions for Submitting your application via e-mail:
1. Open attachment from the email
2. Save it your desktop or other location on your computer first
3. Name the file using your Business Name
4. Once saved, open it from the saved location and complete the application
5. Once completed, save again and double check that it saved with your information
6. Attach the document in an email to bff@glastonbury-ct.gov

Bike Friendly Facilities

  • Bicycle parking that can accommodate a minimum of 4 bicycles and is visible from and close to the entrance it serves (approximately 50’ or less)
  • Access to water for cyclists to refill their own water bottle at no charge
  • Access to a restroom (whether bicyclist is a customer or not) in the business/facility or nearby (may be a portable restroom) 

**Please be respectful of any business/facility you visit by removing or wiping shoes with potentially damaging cleats and keeping restrooms neat and clean.
