Each year, the library looks forward to its transformation into a gallery of colorful masterpieces created by the students of the Glastonbury preschools and daycare centers. Teachers carefully select artworks that showcase the talents of these young artists. Young children benefit in many ways from creating art. The beauty of the creation is equal parts process and product. Children hone their fine motor skills by holding paintbrushes, markers, crayons and scissors. They express their individuality by manipulating materials into a piece of art that is uniquely their own. Important concepts like colors, shapes, numbers, letters, sizes and patterns are reinforced. Children develop self-confidence as they practice these skills and produce a piece of work that they are proud of. Come visit during the month of March to see the diverse offerings of these talented preschool artists.
