Plan of Conservation & Development (POCD) 2018-2028 Finalized
POCD finalized and effective November 30, 2018
On October 30, 2018, the Town Plan and Zoning Commission adopted the 2018-2028 Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD). The Plan is effective as of November 30, 2018 and was updated and adopted in accordance with the statutory requirements identified within the Connecticut General Statutes, Chapter 126, Section 8-23. The process for updating the POCD was an inclusive one that solicited the participation from town boards and commissions, local and regional organizations, and the general public. A total of seventeen (17) public meetings over a course of a year and a half were conducted. Twelve (12) of these meetings were in-depth discussions focused on particular topics in the Plan.
The Plan of Conservation and Development maps out the vision for how the Town of Glastonbury will grow and preserve over the next decade. The document represents a unified vision that incorporates the various aspects of planning including, but not limited to:
- Economic development
- Natural resource protection
During the planning process to update the POCD, the Commission also made a series of technical corrections to the Future Land Use Map which is the visual representation of what is articulated in the Plan. This map is incorporated in the document and can also be found by clicking on the POCD document link below.
