Glastonbury Youth and Family Services is a town agency devoted to programs and services that respond to the needs of Glastonbury youth and their families. Clinical Services, Creative Experiences, and Outreach Services are three programs of the division.
Clinical Services is committed to supporting and advocating for the social and emotional development of Glastonbury youth and their families. Currently, these services are provided free of cost in a professional and confidential environment. Clinical Services offers: individual counseling, family counseling, group counseling, crisis intervention, community consultation and education, and parenting programs.
Creative Experiences programs offer opportunities for young people to become positively involved in the community, to learn social skills, to effectively utilize those opportunities, and to receive appropriate rewards as a way to reinforce what is being practiced. The programs provide a fun, experiential, and inventive learning environment. Some of Creative Experiences programs are: Peter Pan Players, the Summer Musical, the Fall Production, Natural Caregivers, Youth Services Action Group, Odyssey of the Mind, Pass It On, and PeaceJam.
Outreach Services are prevention and intervention programs that are offered in the Glastonbury community, school system, and Welles Village. An outreach worker is housed in Glastonbury High School and Smith Middle School respectively during the school year. The outreach workers provide support and information to the community. Some of the programs offered through Outreach Services are: Peer Education, Peer Mediation, WACY, and the Homework Club.
