Real Estate and Personal Property (Business) Tax Information
The first installment of Real Estate and Personal Property (business) taxes are due July 1st and payable by August 1st. The second installment is due January 1st and payable by February 1st. All taxes under $100.00 are payable in a single installment and are due July 1st and payable by August 1st. Real Estate bills cover July 1st through June 30th. If you received a bill for Real Estate you no longer own, please contact us at (860) 652-7614. If you received your Real Estate bill and you escrow your taxes, please forward the bill to your lender.
Motor Vehicle Tax Information
Motor Vehicle tax is due July 1st and payable by August 1st. Supplemental Motor Vehicle tax is due January 1st and payable by February 1st. For further information, click Motor Vehicle Information.
Delinquent motor vehicle taxes must be paid in Cash, Money Order, Cashier's Check at the Revenue Collection Office or Online using a Credit Card if a release is needed to register your vehicle at the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Sewer Billing Information
Sewer Use bills are due November 1st and payable by December 1st. These bills cover the period from July 1st of the previous year through June 30th of the current year. For additional information on your sewer use billing, click Sewer Use Billing Information.
General Information on Billing and Payments
Checks which have been returned by the bank are subject to a fifteen ($15.00) processing fee.
Taxpayers who have not received a bill should contact the Revenue Collection Office for a duplicate, since failure to receive a bill does not invalidate the tax and respective penalties should the account become delinquent.
Unpaid taxes will be considered delinquent as of August 2nd. On that date interest will be charged back to the original due date of July 1st. Interest is charged at a rate of 1.5% per month in accordance with the provisions of C.G.S. Sec. 12-146. If you cannot pay your taxes for any reason, please contact us at (860) 652-7614.
On time tax payments may be mailed to Town of Glastonbury, Collector of Revenue, PO Box 376, Glastonbury, CT 06033-0376.
At People's United Bank branch offices (please present your current bill provided there are no back taxes due).
Residents may deposit check payments only (cash not accepted) using one of two drop boxes located at Town Hall. The stand alone drop box is located on the left-hand side of the Town Hall driveway, past the flagpoles. The other drop box is built into the exterior wall of Town Hall, to the right of the main entrance. Payments are collected Monday - Friday for processing.
Payments by credit/debit card or electronic check are available on line through Invoice Cloud. The vendor charges a 2.95% service fee for TAX bills paid by credit/debit cards or a $.95 service charge fee for electronic check payments. There is a $7.95 minimum service fee per credit/debit card transaction for SEWER bills, not to exceed $400. per transaction, or a $.95 service charge fee for electronic check payment. Payments may also be made in person between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday at 2155 Main Street, Glastonbury, CT.
