What do I need for Camp?

Supplies for Music & Arts Camp

All Campers should dress appropriately, especially for warm days and bring a water bottle. All campers need to have a Camper Information Form on file.  Only one form is needed for those attending the Extended Day Program.  Use the links below to fill out the appropriate form online:

If your camper will need emergency or daily medication you must complete a Medication Authorization Form and turn it into the Parks & Recreation office by Wednesday, June 20th before camp begins.


 

Below is a list of items needed for specific classes at Music & Arts Camp. Items are not needed until Monday, July 2nd so please feel free to ask the instructor on the first day before going out to purchase items.

BALLET - Ballet shoes or Socks NO FLIP FLOPS OR BARE FEET

BEG RECORDER - Students must supply their own recorder.  (ex: Yamaha Soprano Recorder ~ $5) Yamaha soprano recorder

CONCERT BAND – Students must bring their own instrument and a pencil and eraser. Woodwinds: GOOD REEDS

DANCE EXPLORATION - Comfortable clothing, tap, ballet or jazz shoes (if have), socks or sneakers. 

FELT MASK MAKING – Bag of odds and ends of material (Optional)

FOLK DANCE - Sneakers or Closed Toe Shoes NO FLIP FLOPS OR BARE FEET Ballet Slippers OK

FOOD DECORATING BASICS - Campers should purchase the "Wilton Decorating Basics Student Kit" which students will use in class and then they have everything they need to practice what they learn at home.  The kit is sold for $34.99 at craft stores.  AC Moore, Micheal's and Joann Fabrics all have weekly coupons for 40-55% off and all stores honor their competitors coupons. All Students should also bring 2 qt. Tupperware-type container or shoe box to bring their creations home in.

FOOD DECORATING II - All Students should bring a 2 QT. Tupperware-type container or shoebox to bring their creations home in.

GARAGE BAND - Thumb/USB Drive and Headphones (optional)

GLEE CLUB – Pencil

GUITAR - Students must supply their own guitar and picks.  The instructor recommends a 3/4 size nylon string guitar.

HIP HOP - Athletic Clothing & Sneakers NO FLIP FLOPS OR BARE FEET

ILLUSTRATION – Optional: personal pictures of pets/animals

INTRO TO KNITTING – Knitting needles, US 10 Size

JAZZ - Jazz shoes or sneakers NO FLIP FLOPS OR BARE FEET

JAZZ BAND – Students must bring their own instrument and a pencil and eraser. Woodwinds: GOOD REEDS

MODERN DANCE - Athletic Clothing & Tan Canvas Ballet Shoes or Sneakers NO FLIP FLOPS OR BARE FEET

MUSIC LESSON - Students must bring their own instrument and a pencil. Bring Method book you are using in school.

PIANO I - Headphones (book will be provided). 

PIANO II -Headphones and Book:  "Accelerated Piano Lesson Book I" Lesson Book Faber:publisher Hal Leonard, this may be purchased from the Music & Arts Store on the East Hartford/Glastonbury line. 

PERCUSSION - 1 Pair of drum sticks (Recommended size is 5A, 5B or for smaller students, size 7A.  Comfort is key so have your child test them out first if possible (cost $4-$10); Book: Alfred Breeze-Easy Method for Drums, Book 1 ($6.49) and Remo Practice Pad ($16.95).  All items available at the Music & Arts Store. Drumsticks, drum pad, Alfred Breeze Easy Method for Drums, Book 1.

STREET THEATER - Pair of Long Tube Socks and Juggling balls/bean bags (optional)

STRINGS LESSONS & ORCHESTRA - Students must bring their own instrument and "Essential Elements Book" if they have one from school.

TAP - Tap or Leather sole shoes NO FLIP FLOPS OR BARE FEE

THEATER WORKSHOP & MONOLOGUE/DIALOGUE - Pencil, highlighter and 3 ring binder.

UKELELE - Students must supply their own ukulele. Ukuleles can be purchased for about $40 from Music & Arts Center in East Hartford

YOGA - Mat (Optional)

ULTIMATE FUN & GAMES, FITNESS ZONE, TEAM SPORTS & ADVENTURE CHALLENGE - Water Bottle.  Must wear Sneakers!
