This is a 100% Federal Transportation Grant-funded project designed to replace and coordinate all traffic signals in the Main Street corridor between Welles Street and Putnam Boulevard. All existing signal equipment will be replaced and new signal heads will be suspended from new steel mast arms. Signals will be coordinated for more efficient progression and will include state-of-the-art detection and control technology. Crews are presently working on installation of all necessary underground conduit and mast arm foundations. Underground installations are expected to be completed shortly. Above-ground controllers, mast arms, signal heads, etc. will follow.

January 2015 Update: Project work was substantially completed in July of 2014. Ongoing work includes final calibration of the traffic signal timings to maximize efficiency and progression of traffic through the corridor.
