The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection has issued an updated "General Permit for the Discharge of Storm water from Small Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems" which takes effect on July 1, 2017.  This permit regulates the discharge of storm water from all of the Town-owned and maintained drainage systems, and includes many new and increased requirements related to such items as illicit discharge detection and elimination, water quality treatment for private developments that discharge into the town system, and increased inspection and maintenance requirements for public and private storm water infrastructure. A fact sheet describing the updated permit can be found here:  CT DEEP Fact Sheet
