About the Event

Incorporated in 1693, 2018, marks the 325th birthday of the Town of Glastonbury.  As one of Connecticut's oldest municipalities, Glastonbury  hosted an anniversary event on September 16th, 2018, at the Riverfront Park and Glastonbury Boathouse where the community could come together to celebrate this significant milestone.

3:30 - 6:00 pm - Kids’ Activities provided by Glastonbury Town Center Initiative
Gazebo/Playground Area

  • DJ with music & games, crafts with The Art Truck and Wind Hill Farm, Home Depot Workshop, fishing in the fountain, YMCA bounce house, 325th tattoos, Crazy Color Hairspray Station, Community Sticker Mosaic Activity
  • 4:15 pm - Griffith Academy Irish Step Dancing Performance
  • 5:00 pm - Villari’s Martial Arts Demonstration

3:00 - 8:00 pm - Food and Beverages

Glastonbury Boathouse (2nd level)

  • Enter a FREE drawing for a chance to win 40+ amazing prizes from local merchants! Winners will be drawn & announced throughout the day beginning at 4:30 pm.
  • Historical exhibits from the Glastonbury Historical Society will also be on display in the Boathouse. 

4:00 - 6:00 pm - L.L.Bean Outdoor Discovery Schools
Boat Launch  

  • 4:00, 4:30, 5:00 & 5:30 pm - Intro to Kayaking Classes (15-20 mins on river). First come, first served. Ages 8 and older.
  • 6:00 pm - Essential Knots for the Outdoors and Basic Map & Compass Navigation

7:30 pm - Fireworks Display (Zambelli Fireworks)

Parking and Transportation

Only handicapped parking will be available on site at Riverfront Park and Welles Street will be CLOSED to vehicular traffic as of ~2:00 pm.  To access the event, residents may use the following options:

  • A Free Shuttle service will be running from 180/200 Glastonbury Blvd. to the event throughout its duration.
  • Walk or bicycle to the event - valet bike parking will be available at the park complements of Bike Walk CT. 
  • Rickshaw Rides - Available from the top of Welles St. down to Riverfront Park.

Please note: the Boat Launch will be closed on 9/16
