Do your part to help prevent stormwater pollution!
A little goes a long way
Did you know that stormwater can pick up debris, chemicals, and other pollutants and flow into a storm sewer system or directly into a river, wetland, or water source? Anything that enters a storm sewer system is discharged untreated into the water bodies we use for swimming, fishing, and providing drinking water! In other words, keep the community's water sources clean and never put anything in the town storm drains that you wouldn't want to find in your glass of water or favorite swimming spot!
It's imperative that we all do our part to help prevent stormwater pollution and keep our community's water clean! To educate residents and business owners in Glastonbury, the Town has created a dedicated Stormwater Prevention Pollution page on our website at www.glastonbury-ct.gov/stormwater, where you can find helpful tips and tricks to do your part. We will also be posting tips periodically through the town news and Facebook page in the coming months, to highlight simple ways your home/business can help.
In addition to doing your part, it's also very helpful to the Town if you report stormwater pollution when you see it. It's quick and easy to report through the Town's Citizen Request system! Just visit www.glastonbury-ct.gov/citizenrequest, enter the LOCATION of the issue, then click NEXT. Under "TYPE OF ISSUE" select "Drainage - Report Stormwater Pollution", and proceed through the prompts to submit your siting. You can also contact the Engineering Division directly at (860) 652-7735 to initiate an inspection.
Visit www.glastonbury-ct.gov/stormwater for more information and be sure to follow our news and Facebook page for future updates. Thank you in advance for your help!
