Holiday Gift Program Helps Hundreds
The Human Services' Annual Holiday Gift Program was held on Tuesday, Dec 19th for income eligible Glastonbury families with children. There were 123 families who participated, including 247 children, who received gifts, Walmart gift cards, and grocery gift cards. There were 85 donors who were matched with the specific wish lists of children and many others in the community who made donations of cash, gift cards, toys, and books. The knitters from the Senior Center again donated hats and other handmade items and library patrons donated gloves and socks. During the program day event, families also had an opportunity to visit with Santa.
Concurrent with the family distribution on 12/19, the Knights of Columbus at St. Paul Church distributed 187 coats that they had collected. The following day, December 20th, 88 income eligible Glastonbury households who do not have children received grocery gift cards to help with the holidays.
This program is made possible thanks to the many dedicated volunteers who helped prepare the gifts for distribution. Participating families were very thankful for the support from the community and the Glastonbury Human Services Department would like to express its appreciation to all who gave their time, money, and contributions to make this program a success again this year.
Thank you all for your kindness and generosity and Happy New Year!
