On Tuesday, April 17th, the Glastonbury Health Department will host an educational event for residents concerned with uranium levels in well water. The event will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the Activity Room of the Riverfront Community Center (300 Welles Street) and is free for the general public to attend (no registration required).
Meg Harvey, Epidemiologist with the CT Department of Public Health (DPH) and Tiziana Shea, Sanitary Engineer III with the CT DPH will speak to what levels of uranium should be of concern as well as the potential health affects related to uranium in well water. They will also speak to the science behind uranium's presence in well water. A representative from Hydropure Water Treatment Company will then present information regarding the various systems residents can install to remove uranium from their drinking water. Glastonbury Director of Health, Wendy Mis, will also be in attendance. Residents will have an opportunity to ask questions following the presentation.
