Glastonbury, Connecticut 06033
Spend a relaxing afternoon with award-winning classical guitarist Francesco Barone. The classical guitar repertoire is unique to the literature of the piano, violin and other traditionally classical instruments in that it is unprecedentedly influenced by American jazz and popular styles. Guitarist Francesco Barone will present a recital of pieces that draw influence from the rich musical tradition of America. The program will feature the music of Andrew York (American guitarist and composer who compositions are inspired by American music styles), Nikita Koshkin (Russian composer who draws influence from American jazz) and Alexandre Tansman (A Polish composer who incorporated jazz harmonies into his works). Seating is limited, so reservations are required starting September 25, online or at the library’s Reference Desk at 860-652-7720.
Francesco Barone has performed throughout the Northeast United States and in Italy as a soloist and chamber musician. He has been featured on a La Bella Strings sponsored concert, was a prizewinner in the Philadelphia Classical Guitar Society Competition and has had performances broadcasted on NPR. Currently he is a Teaching Fellow, The Hartt School and Adjunct Instructor, Hartt Community Division.
